Employing Ex-Offenders in the North East

It was a pleasure to host ‘Hiring Prison Leavers and Ex-Offenders in the North East’ in partnership with The Recruitment Junction at our head office, The Fleming. An in-person event to open the conversation with local employers about the benefits of hiring ex-offenders.

The evening showcased the initiative as not only a life-changing opportunity for the men and women who secure sustainable employment but successful across a range of industries. We were proud to share our success story so far, having recruited 14 ex-offenders we have recruited since 2020.

Speakers included members of the HMP Northumberland Employment Advisory Board, our Founder CEO and Chair, Ian Baggett, Founder-Director of The Recruitment Junction, Beverley Brooks, Deputy Director at HMP Northumberland, Linsday Blackmore, and ex-offenders who have found work and changed their lives through these second chances.

Our guests also heard from our panel of employers who shared their experiences and success stories of recruiting and managing teams with people with convictions, Josh Dunlavy of Adderstone, Samantha Read of APM Cleaning & Repair Ltd and Kimberley McGinty of VGC Group.
