Lee joined the Development Division as Senior Architectural Technician in 2017.
Lee commenced his career studying and working for Clarence Solomon Architects in Newcastle before moving to London to continue his development and studies in architecture.
In the 20 years Lee worked in London he was employed by practices such as Chamberlin Powel Bon & Woods, Austin Smith Lord and Rolfe Judd. Lee's professional career experience has covered a broad range of projects from high end residential homes in Mayfair, Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Sydney, office developments, hotels, student accommodation, visitor centre for Strangeways Prison, veterinary surgeries, care home facilities, pubs, leisure, sports clubs to an ablution building for a marina within the Cardiff Bay development.
Whilst in London, Lee was appointed by Sports England and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to organise an international football tournament, due to the phenomenal national interest Lee had to hold a number of team trials which resulted in formation of two teams, Great Britain & London. The tournament was a huge success, where Lee both captained and lifted the winners trophy. The tournament included architects from Spain, Morocco, Scotland and Wales, reciprocal tournaments were played in various countries over the following years.
One of Lee’s passions is travel, Lee took a year out to travel the world starting in Africa and ending up in New York, Zanzibar and Cambodia were just a few of his highlight destinations. Whilst on Lee’s travels, he was employed by a practice in Sydney, Australia where he worked on luxury beachside houses.
Lee explains "I don’t see architecture and design as a real job, it’s a hobby, it’s a like footballers, you get up every day and look forward to what you do for a living. Architecture, colour and interior design are all around us, but its how you see things. Adderstone Group have given me the opportunity to be working back in Newcastle, the projects are varied and exciting, every working day is different."
Over the years, as well as projects winning architectural awards, Lee’s also had buildings featured in the national press, The Daily Telegraph and Grand Design magazine to name a few. Lee is committed to making clients ideas become reality and is dedicated to ensuring that both high quality design and client satisfaction from initial consultation are achieved.
Outside of work, Lee is a keen runner rising early to cover a few miles before starting work. A football fan and season ticket holder at Newcastle United, Lee has certainly seen the highs, away trips to Barcelona and Monaco, and lows, but, as Lee says, surely 50,000 people can’t be wrong!
