Kids 1st nursery group, Adderstone Group’s occupier at Saltwell Business Park, are celebrating after being named the highest quality childcare provider in the UK by Nursery World for the fifth consecutive year.

Kids 1st nurseries topped the quality league table, which has been compiled with points based on their latest published Ofsted inspection reports, and it shows that 100% of Kids 1st’s nurseries are outstanding, including the one located at Adderstone Group’s Saltwell Business Park in Low Fell, Gateshead.

Mark McArdle, Managing Director said: “I am so proud that we are at the top of this league table for the fifth year. It was very special to achieve this once, but five times is incredible.

“I am a firm believer that we are only as good as our staff and this quality rating is very much testament to the commitment, dedication and qualifications of the staff team, and the team spirit within the group.”

Kids 1st is a family run business and now has 11 purpose-built nurseries in the North East of England.  Outstanding features of the nursery at Saltwell and across their other sites include nutritious homemade meals, challenging gardens which have been designed to suit the age groups that use them, CCTV and fingerprint security, interactive whiteboards and a dedicated pre-school.

Amy Riley, Adderstone Group’s Commercial Estates Manager said: “We’re delighted to hear of Kids 1st’s award. It is a tremendous achievement.

“The nursery occupies 6,000 sq. ft. at Saltwell Business Park and was purpose built in 2011 as part of the regeneration of the former open-air school.  The nursery is located alongside 11 further individual offices units at Saltwell, offering a total of 15,000sq. ft. Plans are also approved for a Phase II on the park which will provide an additional 12,000 sq. ft. of space. This is currently being marketing for prospective tenants and those interested can contact Amy Riley on or 0191 269 9944.
