I undertook a one week placement with Adderstone Group, the focus being on digital marketing. During my time here, I have written and published blog posts, devised social media content on various different platforms and sat in meetings regarding Sultan House, a housing scheme Adderstone Group are developing in London. I have also conducted research on student accommodation around Newcastle and visited Saltwell Business Park, one of Adderstone Group’s commercial properties. These are only a few examples of the projects I was lucky enough to help out with so directly.
Before I came to Adderstone Group I had learnt about competitor analysis and what makes a successful marketing campaign. I was given the task of analysing different student accommodation, checking prices and facilities which enabled me to put my teaching into practice.
When I first met the marketing team before my placement, I was given the fantastic and insightful opportunity of being involved in one of the Jesmond Exchange photoshoots. This gave me real experience of the out of office work that the marketing team do and how prevalent marketing as a department is in a company such as Adderstone Group.
Adderstone Group have provided me with invaluable, transferable skills that I know will propel me into my future career in marketing as well as set me apart from others. One of these skills include using Campaign Monitor to create E-Newsletters to send out to Adderstone Group’s letting agency, Exchange Residential’s residents.
Overall, my week with Adderstone Group has been dynamic and educational, clarifying that marketing is the career I want to break in to. I cannot wait to see how all the projects I have worked on pan out and I wish the whole team the best of luck.
