The Gateshead Railway Club is an existing 19th Century brick-built building close to Newcastle Gateshead’s High Level Bridge. The building has a locally listed status and forms part of the Local Authority Conservation area.

The development involved the conversion of the building into 25 apartments of varying sizes which included creating new mezzanine levels, a complete new third floor and a new roof structure to create an additional fourth floor.

The project also included extensive restoration to the external envelope which included high quality replica timber sash windows, repairs to the brickwork and stonework, and a new Welsh slate roof.

On the ground floor of the building, works involved renovation and opening up the space to create a shell for a new bar and leisure space.

Located on the Gateshead end of the High Level Bridge, Worsdell House and Gateshead Railway Club are only a short 5-minute walk to the centre of Gateshead, 5 minutes to Newcastle Quayside and 10 minutes to Newcastle city centre.

The building is incredibly accessible by public transport with bus and Metro stops only minutes away. As a result, the building continues to be popular for young professionals settling in the city.

At the time of the development, Osborne Terrace was heralded as an exemplar of modern, high-quality student housing, ideally located within close walking distance to Newcastle City Centre and both Newcastle and Northumbria University campuses.
