Conflict and displacement strip people of the essentials most of us take for granted- safety, food, shelter and access to medical care. When the war in Ukraine began in 2022, millions of civilians were forced to flee their homes, while hospitals and humanitarian organisations faced overwhelming demand for supplies and support.
In moments like these, rapid humanitarian action can make an immediate difference. Delivering essential aid, supporting medical services and helping vulnerable people reach safety are critical first steps in responding to crisis.
Action
Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the Adderstone Foundation directed its efforts towards supporting humanitarian aid on the ground. In April 2022, the Foundation launched its first support vehicle carrying medical supplies and essential provisions to the Ukraine–Slovakia border, helping establish a reliable route for delivering aid to hospitals and shelters.
Working alongside the MAD Foundation’s Operation SafeDrop, the Foundation supported the transport of humanitarian supplies into Ukraine while assisting with the evacuation of vulnerable civilians, including women, children and elderly people, from areas affected by the conflict.
The support vehicles helped move both life-saving medical supplies and essential everyday items, ensuring resources reached the people and healthcare teams who needed them most.
Impact
Through this partnership, aid deliveries reached hospitals, shelters and communities across the region, helping support both frontline medical teams and civilians displaced by the conflict. The wider Operation SafeDrop initiative has delivered large quantities of humanitarian aid, including food, clothing and medical supplies, helping thousands of people affected by the war.
By supporting these operations, the Adderstone Foundation helped ensure that practical, life-saving resources could be transported quickly and efficiently to those facing the realities of war.
