Quay West Business Village

Quay West Riverside Business Village, Crown Rd, Southwick, Sunderland SR5 2AL

Quay West Business Village is a premier business hub on Sunderland’s Riverside. Occupied by a diverse range of local, national and international brands, the 100,000 sq ft business destination is always brimming with activity, benefitting from a thriving community and picturesque backdrop.

In addition to a range of high-quality office space to rent or purchase, Quay West offers a small number of significant development opportunities for commercial occupiers looking to create their own bespoke space, whether it be an office, commercial or industrial scheme.

Available plots range from 950 sq. metres to 1700 sq. metres of land and would be the ideal location for a national firm to establish a local presence, close to strong commercial operators and a high number of residential homes, or as an impressive local office HQ with great access to the city centre and key local landmarks.

A LEGACY REIMAGINED

The site of Quay West Business Village has a rich heritage. Originally acquired by Austin & Pickersgill in 1845, it became one of the most prominent shipyards in the North East in the 1800s and 1900s, renowned for building the famous SD14 and launching 14,000 tonne freighters, many of which are still in service worldwide today.

By the 1980s, the region’s shipbuilding industry had declined and the site fell into disrepair. Seeing its potential, Adderstone set out to transform it into Sunderland’s first out of town business park for more than 25 years.

Despite the challenges of redeveloping the site during one of the country’s deepest recessions, Adderstone developed a commercially attractive business hub, recognised by RICs as “Highly Commended” at the 2010 Renaissance Awards.

LOCATION

Quay West Business Village is ideally located in the heart of Wearside, in a stunning setting on the northern banks of the River Wear and less than a mile from Sunderland city centre. The park sits beside the Queen Alexandra Bridge and is close to the Northern Spire Bridge.

Businesses based at Quay West benefit from easy access to local amenities, extensive transport links and ample parking for staff and visitors.

The Business Village has been developed with sustainability at its core and utilises effective travel management strategies. By road the park is minutes from the A19 motorway and close to the A1231 Wessington Way. Sunderland Station is just an eight-minute taxi ride away and the park is also excellently served by regular, efficient bus routes. The nearest Metro Station is Pallion which is a 20-minute walk to Quay West and connects the area with the rest of the wider North East.
