At sea, help can be a long way off. The RNLI exists to close that distance, launching lifeboats and crews whatever the hour, whatever the weather, so that no one facing danger on the water is left waiting.
Action
In 2017, the Adderstone Foundation donated to the RNLI, going some way to help funding the kit and training needed to bring loved ones safely home to their families.
Impact
As of 2017, the RNLI had 4,700 volunteer crew members at 238 lifeboat stations around the UK and Republic of Ireland, ready 24/7. The RNLI remains independent of government and separate from the Coastguard, so public generosity is what allows it to continue this work.
