Conversion of the Grade I listed Rehearsal Rooms in Newcastle upon Tyne into 12 luxury apartments.
The Rehearsal Rooms are the third development of Adderstone Group’s regeneration of Newcastle Theatre village, alongside the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, and Waterloo House.
The project involved the complete internal refurbishment and renovation of this part of the Grade I listed Tyne Theatre building, formerly used as theatre rehearsal space. Development ensured the external appearance and original features of the property remained largely unchanged to retain the character and legacy of the site.
This residential element of the project funded the painstaking restoration of some of the more sensitive restorations of the theatre before Adderstone Group passed the Tyne Theatre into the safe hands of a newly formed charity, The Tyne Theatre Trust, for the sum of £1.
The regeneration of Newcastle’s Theatre Village was a key player in Adderstone’s growing reputation for taking on challenging projects that the national house builders and developers shied away from. The full project received the Group’s recognition as “heroes of the built environment” by Newcastle Chronicle & Journal.
