Adderstone Group purchased the iconic Baja Beach Club on the banks of the River Tyne in January 2019 with plans to redevelop the site into a stylish Grade A office space. The building will be known as Pipewell Quay.
Standing only a few hundred yards from the iconic BALTIC and Sage Gateshead, Pipewell Quay is about to become a new landmark building on Gateshead’s famous Quayside, but that’s only half the story. Its former life, as Baja Beach Club, has long been written into Geordie folklore, as hundreds of young ‘lads’ and ‘lasses’ danced the night away and met their future husbands and wives in this legendary former nightclub.
Whilst we’re sure many still lament the loss of the hugely popular, guilty-pleasure nightclub, which closed permanently in 2008 after almost a decade at the top of its game, new life was breathed into the old club when it was purchased by Adderstone Group in January 2019.
Set to become the home of Aspire Technology Solutions in 2021, this 30,000 sq. ft Grade A office has undergone a full refurbishment and extension, delivering office space of the highest quality, with floor to ceiling glass frontage overlooking the River Tyne and rooftop terraces facing towards Newcastle’s historic keep, the Swing Bridge and Tyne Bridge.
Pipewell Quay is a fantastic example of an historic but out of use building having new life breathed into it to create a space where people want to come and work, and it benefits from being situated in the heart of the city, just seconds away from an array of awesome bars, breweries, museums and more.
