In line with the relocation, the family run business, which was established in 2008 by founder and Managing Director, Paul Pringle, has grown its staff from 7 to 11. The company, which lists the likes of Disney, Carnival, National Geographic, Royal Caribbean and the US Navy amongst its client list, is looking to recruit further in key sales and project management positions in the future.

The new warehouse and office premises at Baker’s Yard, which is over three times the size of their previous operation, enables the Solarglide team to manufacture products on site and, in turn, ensures that the company has better efficiency and control over the supply of products and services to clients, 95% of whom are overseas.

Paul, who runs the business alongside his father and CEO, Mike Pringle, said: “This move is significant for us. We’re a proud North East company. We wanted to stay local and Baker’s Yard was the perfect location. The facilities we have on site enable us to serve our customers even more efficiently and hopefully we will go on to significantly grow our business in the cruise, yacht and commercial marine sectors.”

Mike Pringle, CEO, said: “We’re a very ambitious company. As part of our three-year plan we’re aiming to double our current turnover of £1.2m and we’re confident that this move will help us deliver our aspirations. A combined warehouse and office with ample parking and delivery facilities, in such a good location was just what we were looking for.”

Andy Kahn, MD of Adderstone Estates said: “Solarglide are a perfect fit for the hybrid units at Baker’s Yard. We worked closely with the business to provide a high spec office with conference room that meets their needs, and in which they can welcome their customers from all over the world, right above the warehouse where they manufacture their products.”
