Stepney Yard

Stepney Yard is Adderstone Group’s 266-bed scheme in the heart of Ouseburn, Newcastle, named one of the best places in the UK to live by The Times in 2019.

Once a heaving industrial hub, this riverside area of the city is home to a selection of warehouses and workshops that have been gradually taken over as studios and workspaces by artists and musicians.

The immediate vicinity is also awash with independent cafés, music venues, breweries, bars and pubs, and every corner is dotted with street art.

Stepney Yard is Adderstone Group’s contribution to the creative neighbourhood. 266 beds of cool, well-designed apartments set over three floors, many with views over the nearby Ouseburn Stadium and viaduct and some with outdoor terraces, the envy of any visiting student.

Stepney Yard was completed in 2016. With a mix of duplex studio apartments and en suite flats, students are able to choose to live independently or share with friends. There are also the coolest social areas bedecked with chesterfield sofas, industrial and exposed services, pool tables and a cinema room.

Adderstone Group eventually sold Stepney Yard to US investment firm, Starwood Capital as part of a wider 800-bed multi-million-pound portfolio deal in 2018.

The building continues to be hugely popular with the 40,000+ students welcomed into Newcastle each year.
