In 2007, conversion took place of the historic Gateshead Railway Club in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, into 25 modern, stylish apartments and refurbishment of the basement club/ bar area.
The Gateshead Railway Club is an existing 19th Century brick built building close to Newcastle's High Level Bridge. The building has a locally listed status and forms part of the Local Authority Conservation area.
Working alongside Brims Construction, the development involved the conversion of the building into twenty five apartments of varying sizes which included creating new mezzanine levels, a complete new third floor and a new roof structure to create an additional fourth floor.
The project also included extensive restoration to the external envelope which included high quality replica timber sash windows, repairs to the brickwork and stonework, and a new Welsh slate roof.
