Who are we looking for?
We’re seeking an ambitious and motivated undergraduate studying Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline, who is looking to undertake a placement year as part of their degree.
You’ll be organised, commercially aware and keen to learn within live environments. Given the nature of our projects, you should be detail-oriented, proactive and confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders- from subcontractors and suppliers to engineers, site managers and senior leaders.
More than anything, we’re looking for someone who wants genuine responsibility and practical experience. You’ll be keen to understand how technically complex infrastructure and groundworks packages are delivered, and how commercial and operational decisions influence programme, cost and quality outcomes on site.
Why choose Adderstone Civils?
This is an opportunity to gain real-world experience across civil engineering and groundworks projects that support major development and regeneration schemes across the region.
You won’t be confined to observation. Instead, you’ll be embedded within live projects and commercial processes, working closely with experienced engineers, site managers and quantity surveyors. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of civil engineering projects, from planning and procurement through to delivery and completion.
Most importantly, you’ll see the tangible impact of your work on projects that shape the built environment. Culture matters to us, and we aim to create an environment where people feel trusted, supported and involved.
The role – what you’ll be doing…
The role will involve a wide range of civil engineering and project support duties, including:
- Supporting the procurement of materials and specialist subcontractors for groundworks and infrastructure packages
- Liaising with site teams to ensure materials, plant and labour are scheduled in line with programme requirements
- Assisting with checking subcontractor applications and invoices against completed works
