Members of the public are being asked to provide their support for a high quality housing scheme proposed for a 3.3 acre brownfield site in the heart of Gosforth, which would see the area transformed into a small housing estate, ideal for families and close to a range of schools and amenities.
The scheme which would be known as Christon Park, comprises 51 high-quality, low-density, four-bed family homes on the site that is best known as the location of the original Greggs' bakeries and within walking distance of Gosforth High Street and supporting amenities.
Christon Park has been architecturally designed around a grand crescent and features wildlife corridors and communal "pocket parks" offering a variety of functions from sports activity to a community allotment. The semi-detached and terraced houses each have large private gardens and come with generous parking allocations and some private garages.
Great emphasis has been placed on enhancing biodiversity through wildlife corridors, wildflower planting, swift boxes and additional tree planting.
