Union Square Newcastle is a 233-bed student development which opened in Upper Ouseburn, Newcastle upon Tyne in August 2014 to students from over 30 countries across the globe.

We all know that student accommodation has improved beyond recognition in recent years, and at Adderstone Group we’ve always sought to be ‘Best in class’.

Adderstone Group’s first 100+ bed scheme, Union Square, was completed in 2014 shortly before we welcomed 233 students from across the globe to this high spec, bright and airey block with the rarity of large balconies and outdoor space.

Union Square is located on the doorstep of Northumbria University. It is in the perfect location for students to combine study and social life and was purpose built and designed with comfort, security and style in mind.

With a mix of luxury studio apartments and en suite flats available, students are able to choose to live independently or share with friends. There are also sprawling social areas in the form of study areas, chill rooms, gym and central courtyard with outdoor seating spaces for all residents to enjoy.

The eight storey 68,168 sq. ft project includes 151 studios and 15 flats with central kitchen and spacious communal lounge areas, each accommodating between three and six people.

Union Square was voted The North East and Newcastle Student Hall of the Year 2015 and 2016, at the inaugural North East Student Housing Awards, no mean feat against some esteemed rival halls.

Adderstone Group eventually sold Union Square to US investment firm, Starwood Capital as part of a wider 800-bed multi million pound portfolio deal in 2018 and the building continues to be hugely popular with the 40,000+ students welcomed into Newcastle each and every year.
